Updated – Event: LIBE – EMPL – PETI Joint Hearing on “Citizens’ rights after Brexit” (Brussels, 1 February 2018)

Update: press release from European Parliament.

The European Parliament has called for the withdrawal agreement to incorporate the full set of rights citizens currently enjoy and to ensure reciprocity, equity, symmetry and non-discrimination for EU citizens in the United Kingdom and UK citizens in the European Union. On 1 February 2018 the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Committee on Petitions will hold a public hearing to take stock of the situation on citizens’ rights after the announcement in December 2017 that sufficient progress has been achieved in the negotiations for the withdrawal agreement.
