Visit of the College in Vienna on the occasion of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The College of Commissioners will travel to Vienna on Thursday and Friday for its traditional visit to the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union . A reception will first be given in honor of the College Thursday evening by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and in the presence of the Austrian Federal Government. On Friday, President Juncker will meet with Chancellor Kurz and the members of the Colleges will hold talks with members of the Austrian Federal Government. A plenary meeting between the College and the Federal Government will be followed by a press conference by President Juncker and Chancellor Kurz at 11.30 am, broadcast live on EbS . A bilateral meeting of President Juncker with the President of the Federal Republic Alexander Van der Bellen will finally take place at the Hofburg Palace. After a working lunch, the afternoon will be devoted to a working session of the Commission and the Austrian Parliament, in the presence of the Presidents of both Houses of Parliament. In his address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday, 3 July, on the occasion of the beginning of the Austrian Presidency, President Juncker said: “I am looking forward to this Austrian presidency […] I know Sebastian Kurz for many years and I know that it is driven by European convictions, just like the Austrian federal government […] The program of the Austrian Federal Government has a clearly pro-European tone.For more information: Margaritis Schinas – Tel .: +32 229 60524, Alexander Winterstein – Tel .: +32 229 93265, Mina Andreeva – Tel .: +32 229 91382)
