At each meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs there is an exchange of views on the constitutional relationship of the United Kingdom with the European Union: the consequences of the results of the referendum of 23 June 2016. During these exchange of views, the AFCO committee hears from various experts and policy makers.
There will be a workshop on Brexit and the issue of the jurisdiction over the Withdrawal Agreement and the future relationship agreement between the EU and the UK.
During AFCO’s meeting of 3 May, AFCO held an exchange of views on Brexit regarding the preparation of the negotiations on the withdrawal of the UK from the EU. During the first point on the agenda the Committee heard from Guy Verhofstadt, the Parliament’s coordinator for the negotiations on the UK withdrawal from the EU. This was followed by a presentation by Prof. Poiares Maduro on the consequences and legal options regarding Brexit and citizens’ rights.
On the 3rd May, the AFCO Committee will discuss preparation of the Brexit negotiations with Guy Verhofstadt, Parliament’s coordinator for the negotiations on the UK withdrawal from the EU and Prof. Poiares Maduro on the consequences and legal options regarding Brexit and Citizens’ rights.
