The European Commission (EC) is defining the roadmap for the evolution of the EGNOS programme. Evolutions shall support the implementation of safer and more efficient aviation operations.
The first objective is to build and validate a dual frequency multipath model for aviation, which will be a fundamental element to provide navigation services through ARAIM and SBAS dual frequency. The second objective is to contribute to the preparation of the corresponding standards at the appropriate standardisation bodies. In this respect, standardisation activities in the frame of RTCA SC-159 and Eurocae WG-62, in which the European Commission and the European GNSS Agency are involved, are currently ongoing (update of minimum operational performance specification for Galileo/global positioning system/satellite-based augmentation system L1/L5 airborne equipment and standardisation of dual frequency multi-constellation SBAS receivers).
