Last year, the European Union and India celebrated 55 years of diplomatic relations. In this time, EU–India relations have evolved significantly, now encompassing not only trade and development but foreign and security policy, energy, climate change, environment, transport, research and innovation, education, as well as people-to-people contacts.

The Meeting covered a broad range of areas of cooperation between Singapore and the EU, in the context of the finalisation of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, Investment Promotion Agreement and Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. Broader ASEAN related issues were discussed in preparation of Singapore’s upcoming role as ASEAN coordinator for relations with the EU as of August 2018.
