Sustainable, Safe and Smart Mobility.
INEA has received 204 project proposals by the deadline for 9 topics under the Mobility for Growth call. The total indicative budget is €155 million. Successful projects are expected to demonstrate innovative solutions towards low-carbon and sustainable transport, as well as contribute significantly to transport safety, and to the development of advanced technological capabilities in transport. In total, nine topics were open for application for this stage of the call (see table below).
Using automated behaviour monitoring algorithms to give EMSA’s Integrated Maritime Service users an enhanced situational picture. The ETF Political Secretary for Maritime Transport, Philippe Alfonso, was invited to speak with EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc at a reception to mark the end of the 2017 EU Maritime Year. Asked about the future of the maritime sector, Alfonso urged caution about the prospects for rapid automation of shipping. Truly automatic shipping may be further away than many believe, and we must manage any implementation carefully to ensure safety and avoid damaging consequences for workers.
